Who We Are

Mission

To fund and support surgical / medical support for children with congenital heart defects in India. This is achieved by sending a specialist team to India in specified time frame for providing such support. Additionally, the cost of implantable devices and such medical products are provided as can be needed and where clinically appropriate for any child with congenital heart defects. This is wholly achieved by funding - external fundraising from society especially those philanthropists who can offer support and fund these services

Charity Background

Child heart surgery is a charity organisation entirely based in United Kingdom. The primary and only aim of this organisation is to help fund surgical procedures for children with congenital heart defects in developing countries, mainly India. Congenital heart disease is a common ailment effecting more than 1% of children in developing children. There is a huge disproportion between prevalence of CHD and availability of medical/surgical service in India as of now, especially considering the cost of such open heart surgery is highly prohibitive in these families. Governmental support is available but not fully enough for many of these procedures, and doesn’t always reach the grassroot of the society. With a high disproportion between surgical numbers to prevalence, there appears a growing number of children with congenital heart defects who remain symptomatic, and suffer later with failure to education or ability to lead normal life. The team, formed by the organisation, and comprises of a team of surgeons, intensive care specialists, cardiologists, anaesthetists and nurses, would travel from UK to India or other developing countries to an established centre, where such procedures are performed. Preliminary assessment earlier to this would identify these children with correctable congenital heart defects, thereby allowing for these procedures to help the family to get the child back to normal life again, and support their growth with standard education and development further ahead in life.
